What are essential oils and how do they benefit health? There over 90 essential oils that can provide a variety of advantages. With many studies being conducted that focus on the benefits provided by essential oils, more is being discovered about how they can be used to treat disease and aid in keeping the body healthy.

Researchers have found that these natural oils are very helpful in the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, cancer and other health problems.

Essential oils are derived from different parts of plants, which can include the flower, bark, wood, leaves or peel. The different parts of the plant that are used are placed in a special container over water. The water is heated and as steam is created, it passes through the part of the plant being used, extracting the essential elements into a vapor.

The vapors go through a coil and are condensed. This returns them to a liquid state and they are collected for use as essential oils. This process is called distillation.
