Home Remedies for Insect and Mosquito Bites
Herbs - NETTLE: Use as a tea or lotion to relieve insect and mosquito bites. Oddly enough…the juice of a nettle will also relieve a nettle sting.
- WORMWOOD,SAGE,OR RUE: Crush and apply to spider, scorpion, or jellyfish stings.
Traditional Home Remedies and Natural Solutions
- BAKING SODA: Apply to mosquito or insect bites or bee and wasp stings. Slowly drip vinegar over it to make it fizz. This fascinates my granddaughter and takes her mind off the pain or itch.
- LEMON: Apply pure lemon juice to a wasp sting to relieve pain. Make a compress from a pad of cotton wadding soaked in lemon juice.
- WITCH HAZEL: Apply to mosquito bites.
- TOBACCO: Mix with a little water and apply to sting.
- MEAT TENDERIZER: Very effective home remedy for a mosquito bite or bee/wasp sting. Make a paste and apply to mosquito bites or bee/wasp stings
- RESCUE REMEDY or EMERGENCY ESSENCE: Dilute in a few ounces of cool water, or the cream can be applied to a insect bite or sting. (Rescue Remedy is made from equal amounts of Cherry Plum, Rock Rose, Impatiens, Clematis, and Star of Bethlehem)
**Notice: If you are outside or out in the woods and get stung...bruise a dock leave and apply or if nothing else is available...slap some mud on it. HOMEMADE MOSQUITO REPPELLANT: - 1 tablespoon of Citronella Oil
- 2 cups of White Vinegar
- 1 cup of Water
- 1 cup of Avon Skin So Soft
